Mission
The Albany Fund for Education is a non-profit community organization that enhances opportunities for City School District of Albany students to learn, grow and succeed. It does this through grants and by linking community organizations with a mutual interest in public education.
Guiding Principles
- Public Education is fundamental to a democratic, civil, and prosperous
society. - Public Schools are critical institutions for breaking the cycle of poverty
and redressing social inequalities. - Educations reform must be systemic to be effective
- Independent community -based organizations must play a central role
along with private sector businesses in building and sustaining broad
support for public education and for achieving significant reform in
the public schools. - Parents and caregivers should be involved in all attempts to improve
public schools. - Enrichment activities are valuable to all students and should be broadly
available to encourage students’ creativity and intellectual curiosity.
