Funding is provided to an individual or a team for activities that enhance employee(s)’ skills and abilities to support the District’s mission. Awards to/for individuals fund activities such as attendance at relevant seminars, workshops, and similar activities.Awards to teams fund activities such as a customized seminar to address the specific interests/needs of teachers at one school or in one discipline. The signature of the school principal or district administrator is required. A maximum individual award of $250 and group award of $1000 may be made at each review.
Purpose: Funding is provided to an individual or a team from the Albany City School District for activities that enhance employee(s)’ skills and abilities to support the District’s mission.
Background: In July 2009, Dr. Eva Joseph retired as superintendent of the Albany School District. She declined to receive a retirement gift, however agreed to have donations in her honor used to establish a professional development fund that would provide additional professional development opportunities for faculty and staff members of the District to further advance the District mission and goals. Additional funds from the 2009 and 2010 AFE galas were designated for this purpose.
A selection committee, made up of representatives from the District, AFE board, and community will review all applications and make selections.
