Individual Application

Purpose: Funding is provided to an individual or a team from the Albany City School District for activities that enhance employee(s)’ skills and abilities to support the District’s mission. Awards for individuals could fund attendance at relevant seminars, workshops and similar activities. Awards to teams could fund a customized seminar developed to address the interests of teachers at one school or in one discipline.
Background: In July 2009, Dr. Eva Joseph retired as superintendent of the Albany School District. She declined to receive a retirement gift, however agreed to have donations in her honor used to establish a professional development fund that would provide additional professional development opportunities for faculty and staff members of the District to further advance the District mission and goals. Additional funds from the 2009 AFE gala were designated for this purpose.
A selection committee, made up of representatives from the District, AFE board, and community will review all applications and make selections.
