Did you know that 33% of children under 18 in the City of Albany live in poverty and many of them go hungry every weekend during the school year? A partnership with the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society (HATAS), The Regional Foodbank of Northeastern New York, and The Albany Fund for Education wants to change that. With the support of the City School District of Albany, this group of community stakeholders has developed a plan to feed children who are hungry over the weekends when they are not in school. Children identified by public schools in Albany will be given a bag full of food to take home each weekend during the school year. We are now including a book and a milk card each week!
